PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM

Under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) each province and territory has a list of occupations that are needed in province or territory. Once it is determined what province you wish to immigrate to, you must have at least one year of full-time work experience in the specified occupation.  The applicant is then assessed by Citizen and Immigration Canada officials using various criteria such as i.e. age, education, occupation, occupational demand, years of work experience, English/French language ability, personal suitability and family in Canada.  A points system is applied and a successful applicant must achieve a minimum set of points or close to the minimum for their application to be successful.

If it appears that you qualify based upon the current stipulations,  it is important to
submit your application as soon as possible as Canadian National Occupations List, the Immigration Act and Immigration Regulations change frequently and you might not qualify at a later date.

Once you qualify under the PNP Program you then have to make a separate application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for permanent residence status where a CIC officer assesses your application subject to the Canadian Immigration Regulations.
