Canada welcomes successful business people who are seeking new opportunities and challenges. The Business Immigration Program is designed to encourage and facilitate the admission of these individuals. Both the federal and provincial/territorial governments welcome business immigrants and offer services to help immigrants open a business and settle in Canada.

The Self-Employed Persons Program is designed for applicants who want to start a small business in Canada and have the ability to become self-employed in Canada. There are various ways an applicant can qualify for this category:

  • The applicant could be in a field which will contribute to the cultural life of Canada and hope to begin a business in that field. Artists and athletes are examples of this type of work.
  • The applicant could be working as a farmer and have the intention to purchase and manage a farm here. In this case, the applicant should have experience in farm management.
  • Though the applicant is not required to show a minimum amount of savings, it is beneficial to show sufficient funds needed to start the business they are proposing to begin.

The selection criteria for this category requires that the applicant show relevant work experience, either as self-employed or work demonstrating the ability to become self-employed. Other factors, such as education, language, and age, will also be assessed.

If you hope to apply under this category and would like to retain our services, please contact us.
