STUDENT VISA

Canada has one of the best and most respected education systems in the world. Every year, thousands of students from various countries pursue their educational goals in Canada. With new ways to gain valuable Canadian work experience during and after your studies, the advantages of studying in Canada are great. There are also permanent immigration options for international students who have graduated from post-secondary programs in Canada.

Those who wish to study in a Canadian school, for example at a college or university may apply for a Study Permit which will allow the applicant to remain in Canada as a temporary resident for the period of his or her studies.

For example, a person who has been accepted into a three-year university program may be able to obtain a study permit valid for three years. To qualify the applicant must have been formally admitted into a Canadian school and be able to prove that they have sufficient funds to pay for their studies and living expenses during the time they are in Canada. The Canadian immigration authorities will also assess the applicant to determine whether they believe the person will likely return to their home country after completion of their studies in Canada.

Please note that if you apply to study in the province of Quebec, the requirements are different. For more information, contact the school or see
www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca.

Note: Some private institutions, such as career colleges and language schools, are not regulated by the government.
